I had a great experience with Fortified Home Inspections and would definitely recommend Garrett and Bert.Garrett was extremely responsive and helpful from the start. He responded to my quote request late on a Saturday evening, handled all of the coordination leading up to the inspection, and took the time to answer my questions beforehand. That made the process very straightforward.Bert was my inspector and was thorough, professional, and easy to work with throughout the inspection. The inspection itself was detailed, and the report clearly documented what was observed and identified areas where further evaluation or follow-up was appropriate.I especially appreciated having a detailed, practical understanding of an older home’s condition without every age-related characteristic being treated as an emergency. The details and pictures in the report have been a useful reference as I prioritize maintenance and follow-up work.Thank you to Garrett and Bert for making the inspection process straightforward, informative, and well organized.

We had an excellent experience with Bert Blakely from Fortified Home Inspections. Bert was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging throughout the entire inspection process. He took the time to answer every question we had, explained things in a way that was easy to understand, and never made us feel rushed. What really stood out was the quality of his report. It was extremely thorough, well-organized, and easy to read. The report included detailed explanations, photos, maintenance recommendations, and clear descriptions of every area of the home, making it easy for anyone, regardless of their knowledge of construction or home systems, to understand. The inspection covered everything from the roof and foundation to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, attic insulation, and more, giving us confidence that nothing important was overlooked.Bert's attention to detail, professionalism, and willingness to educate us throughout the inspection made the home-buying process much less stressful. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone purchasing a home.

Nick helped us with pre-drywall and pre-possession inspections on our new build home. He was friendly, professional and efficient, and explained everything to us. His report was thorough, and he even came back for a follow-up to ensure that the builder addressed all of the flagged issues. We would definitely recommend Fortified for a new home inspection, and we will be reaching out again if we need another inspection done.

I live in Metro Vancouver and have property management in Edmonton for my rental properties. I had Chris Meade inspect my single family rental home in Edmonton. This was invaluable to me. It is important to me that my rental properties are well maintained for my tenants and to protect my assets. Chris Meade found a surprising number of things which needed to be fixed at this property. In addition to the great report which he sent me, it was also invaluable reviewing his findings by phone. I am so glad that I hired Chris Meade of Fortified Home Inspections. I quickly arranged for work to be done. Chris has since blown me away again by sending 361 photos and videos, many of which were not in the report. As a long distance rental property owner these are like gold to me. I will definitely be hiring Chris Meade again to inspect my properties!! He is already booked for my other single family home. Thanks for this incredibly valuable service which I recommend for every out of town landlord!!!

After months of frustration with our new home and countless issues piling up, we finally decided to hire a professional home inspector. Choosing Fortified Home Inspections was one of the best decisions we made. From our very first phone call, we already felt that we were in good hands. We called around 10:00 PM, thinking it might be too late and that no one would answer, but their hotline was still open. They patiently listened to our concerns, answered all of our questions, and provided helpful advice even before we booked an appointment. During a very stressful time, that level of customer service gave us reassurance and peace of mind.I’ll admit, I was initially a little skeptical after seeing a few reviews that were not five stars. However, after experiencing their service firsthand, I can confidently say that they truly deserve our trust and recommendation.Chris was our inspector, and he was outstanding. He arrived an hour early, kept us updated with his estimated arrival time, and sent us a reminder on the day of the inspection. His professionalism and dedication were already evident from the start.By the time we met Chris, we were honestly overwhelmed and disappointed with our home-buying experience. We had placed so much trust in the entire process, from the realtor to the builder, but major issues continued to appear, and several concerns had still not been properly addressed. We were unsure of what steps to take next.Chris took the time to listen to every concern we had and patiently allowed us to share everything we had experienced over the past eight months. Throughout the inspection, we followed him around the house, asked many questions, and pointed out different issues. He never made us feel like we were bothering him. Instead, he welcomed our questions and took the time to explain everything clearly. What impressed us the most was his attention to detail. Many times, he identified problems even before we mentioned them. He didn’t just point out visible issues. He investigated further and helped us understand the possible root causes behind them. One thing that really stood out was the attic inspection. We knew that previous inspections had not included a proper attic inspection, but Chris made sure it was checked thoroughly. We told him that if the hatch needed to be opened further, we were completely fine with it because our priority was having the entire home properly inspected. He took the extra effort to look into areas that had been overlooked before, and many of the issues we had been experiencing finally started to make sense. After spending hours inspecting the house and patiently answering all of our questions, Chris still took the time to walk us through the report. He explained each finding clearly and made sure we understood what needed attention. The inspection report was detailed, organized, and comprehensive. Nothing important was left out.Since our home is a duplex, Chris also went above and beyond by pointing out concerns that could affect both units. He was generous with his knowledge and made sure we had the information we needed as homeowners.Another great thing about Fortified Home Inspections is that their pricing is very budget-friendly without compromising quality. Their service provides excellent value, and the fact that they offer a free follow-up inspection is an added bonus that shows how much they care about their clients.Overall, we highly recommend Fortified Home Inspections to anyone buying a home, dealing with warranty concerns, or simply wanting peace of mind. Chris and the entire team gave us something we had been missing throughout this process. The confidence that someone was truly looking out for our best interests.Thank you, Chris, and the Fortified Home Inspections team, for your professionalism, patience, and dedication. We will definitely recommend your services to our family, friends, and neighbours.

Outstandingly Professional & Efficient! Second Time Using Fortified!I first used Fortified Home Inspections for my pre-purchase home inspection a year ago and was already very happy. This recent experience, however, was next level, and I cannot recommend this company and their inspector, Chris, highly enough. After having the builder’s technician come out twice (in March and June) only to tell me the basement water staining was simply "historic in nature," I decided to get an independent professional opinion.Best decision ever. It took Chris all of five minutes with the proper diagnostic equipment to locate the actual root cause—which wasn't historic at all, but an active plumbing leak stemming from a garage drain and waste pipe joint.Chris was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and well-equipped. He gave me the exact answers and documentation I needed to get the builder to fix the issue properly under warranty. If you want a thorough inspection done right the first time, ask for Chris!

Great service right from the first enquiry. Nick was our inspector and he took the time to teach my son all about his first home. When my son had a follow up question about a month later when he took possession of the house he got an answer, on a Saturday night, within 5 minutes. That is service above and beyond. If you were thinking about a home inspection I would 100% recommend them.

I would not recommend this inspector, especially for a new build. He demonstrated a shocking lack of technical knowledge regarding the Alberta Building Code. Both the metal lath (mesh) and building paper were clearly visible through gaps in the exterior stone, yet he claimed this 'would not rust' and was not a code violation.By skipping the mandatory scratch coat, the installation is structurally deficient and lacks a proper moisture barrier (ABC 9.20). Even more concerning, he stated he 'did not believe' in radon gas—a scientifically proven hazard and a mandatory mitigation requirement in Alberta. When you hire a professional, you expect expertise and code compliance, not personal opinions that ignore safety and physics.

23:31 09 Feb 26

Purchased a home. Inspector seemed to be good during inspection. Missed some decent items (mouse feces everywhere in the basement, carpenter ants infestation, leaking toilet into mechanical room, dryer vent completely clogged, dishwasher not draining, rot on the roof which was visible, electrical dimming lights (panel not csa approved), 90% of the water shut offs inop, etc. Going to cost me thousands of dollars if not 10's of thousands to fix these items. Out of the 6 homes i have purchased in the past, this is by far the most $$ I will have to spend over missed issues after a home inspection. When I contacted the inspector, he was very condescending when questioned and pretty much said im the best and you better give me a good review. Wouldn't use again.

Unfortunately, during the inspection Bert missed that one of our oven heating elements was completely fried, our dishwasher wasn’t connected to the water line, our dryer heating fuse was broken and the cooling element in the wine fridge was broken. As I approach my 1 year builder walk through I contacted fortified home for inspection and Chris shows up.He was thorough with the inspection and also advised on things that needs to be attended to by the builder and those to be done by home owner. He made me know my home better…Hanks Chris and like I said more referrals would definitely be coming from me.

Nick was an amazing inspector. He looked at tiniest details and gave a comprehensive report. Will highly recommend others.
